Boho Crochet Coaster / Placemat
Looking for an easy summer crochet project? These simple fringe placemats add a touch of whimsy touch to your boho table décor! The placemat pattern comes in three sizes - mini for coasters, midi for fruit bowl or vase place mat and maxi for table placemat!

MEASUREMENTS
Mini (Coaster)
Spiral diameter – 10cm/4” wide
Coaster diameter (including fringe) – approx. 18cm/7” wide
Midi (Bowl, Vase Place Mat)
Spiral diameter – 18cm/7” wide
Placemat diameter (including fringe) – approx. 25cm/10” wide
Maxi (Dinner Plate Place Mat)
Spiral diameter – 34cm/13.5” wide
Placemat diameter (including fringe) – approx. 44cm/17” wide
GAUGE: 10cm/4” square = 12.5 stitches wide x 12 rows tall
*Gauge is not important for this pattern, rather crochet rounds until you reach your desired diameter.
BOHO PLACEMAT CROCHET PATTERN
FOUNDATION CHAIN: Ch 2.
ROUND 1: SC into 2nd ch from hook (the ch by the slip knot) – place SM in 1st st, SC 5 into the same ch.

*Every time you crochet into the 1st st, remove the SM and replace the SM in the 1st st of the round.
ROUND 2: 2SC in first st – remove SM and place in first st of the round, 2SC in each st around.

ALTERATION INSTRUCTIONS
If you want to increase the size of your coaster (or your gauge is slightly off) continue to increase and add more rounds until you reach your desired spiral diameter/width.
To finish the spiral, in the final round, stop 2 sts before the SM.
Sl st into the next 5 sts.
Fasten off and leave a 5cm / 2” tail of yarn.
*After fastening off, do not weave in your end. The end will be used as fringe.
Additional Rounds: (if you want to increase your place mat)
For ROUND 22: rep *SC 20, 2SC; until end. For ROUND 23: rep *2SC, SC 21; until end. For ROUND 9: rep *SC 22, 2SC; until end etc.
Stitch count should increase by 6 sts after every round. Continue to increase until you reach your desired spiral diameter/width.
FRINGE
Turn your coaster so that the wrong side is facing you.
Cut 2 strands of yarn 10(10, 13)cm / 4(4, 5)” long.
Insert hook into any st along edge of coaster.
Hold ends of yarn together and place loop over crochet hook.
Pull loop partially through st, grab ends and pull ends through the loop.
Pull tight to secure.
Repeat for each st around the edge of the coaster.
Trim fringe.
You can either leave your fringe as is or unravel the fringe.
To unravel the fringe, split the strands of yarn apart with your fingers or use a fine-tooth comb and run it through the strands of yarn to separate them.
If you’re using a fine-tooth comb, brush through a few tassels at a time (it’s a lot easier than trying to comb out half the fringe at once).
Trim around to even out fringe.
