How to Speed Clean Any Space

Knowing a quick way to clean any space eliminates the guesswork, which in turn saves time and energy. Follow this formula if you have unexpected guests, need to get your house clean fast, or just don’t know where to start. For those times when you need to have a clean home quickly, creating a speed cleaning routine is your saving grace!
If you’re trying to speed clean your whole house quickly, these ideas and tips will help!
First of all, gather your supplies:
Set a timer.
You'll be surprised of how a simple timer can help you speed up your cleaning. Set it for the amount of time you have—even if it’s 5 minutes it will be helpful. If you want to quickly clean an entire room, 20 or 30 minutes is optimal. Giving yourself a deadline can be motivational and help you not get stuck on the small stuff.
Declutter.
Start by collecting anything that can be tossed and throw it in the garbage bag. Items that need to be relocated can go in your basket. Once the room or area is clean, put the stuff where it belongs, or if you’re trying to clean up before someone drops by, stash the basket—make sure you deal with the stuff before you forget about it.
Keep a basket of supplies ready at all times.
You never know when you'll have to wipe down quickly. Start with an all-purpose cleaner, a glass cleaner, and a disinfectant, then pick your favorite sponge/paper towel/microfiber cloth/old toothbrush combo.
Dust if necessary.
Use your favorite speed dusting tool and move quickly, dusting from top to bottom and left to right. This method will help you remember where you started and stopped cleaning or dusting and will eliminate extra work and steps from your routine.
Use a gigantic extension cord for your vacuum cleaner.
That way you only have to plug it in once to go over every floor in your home.
Straighten throw blankets and pillows.
Take a minute to straighten up throw pillows and blankets. Give pillows a fluff and arrange them in a way that’s visually pleasing to you. Straightening up pillows and blankets will give your room a completed and neat appearance even if it isn’t perfectly clean.
Use a lint roller to clean your lampshades.
Run it around the edges, top and bottom and the inside and the outside. You'll be surprised at how much dust comes off.
