Christmas Tree Granny Square
This granny square together with the one I posted yesterday would make an adorable Christmas blanket. They are easy and don't need a lot of time to make. You only need to know the basic crochet stitches. Have fun making them! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
Crochet terms (US):
ch: chain.
st: stitch.
sl st: slip stitch.
yo: yarn over.
sc: single crochet.
dc: double crochet.
The tree triangle:
String the beads into the green yarn before you start.
Row 1: ch 2, in the second chain from the hook sc 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 2 (right side): sc into each st to last st, sc 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: sc into the each st twice, move a bead next to the last sc, sc 2 into the next st, ch 1, turn.
Note: the bead will be placed on the other side of the triangle (the right side).
Row 4: repeat row 2.
Row 5:(sc into each st twice, move a bead next to the last sc) twice, sc 2 into the last st, ch 1, turn.
Row 6: repeat row 2.
Row 7: (sc into each st twice, move a bead next to the last sc) three times, sc 2 into the last st, ch 1, turn.
Row 8: repeat row 2.
Row 9: (sc into each st twice, move a bead next to the last sc) four times, sc 2 into the last st, ch 1, turn.
Row 10: repeat row 2.
Row 11:(sc into each st twice, move a bead next to the last sc) five times, sc 2 into the last st, ch 1, turn.
Rows 12-14: repeat row 2.
Cut off yarn. DO NOT weave in the loose end at the beginning of the triangle
The Granny Square:
With the white yarn make a magic ring.
Round 1: ch 2 (count as a dc), dc 2, ch 2, (dc 3, ch 2) three times, sl st into 2nd ch 2 of the beginning of the round.
Round 2: ch 2, *dc into each st to next ch 2 space, (dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) into ch 2 space, repeat from * three more times, sl st into 2nd ch of the first ch 2 of the round.
Round 3: ch 2, *dc into each st to next ch 2 space, (dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) into ch 2 space, repeat from * three more times, dc in each st to first ch 2, sl st into 2nd ch.
Round 4: ch 2, dc into each st to next ch 2 space, (dc 2, ch 2) into ch 2 space.
Place the tree on the square, (yo, insert the hook into the first sc in the last white round of the tree and the ch 2 space of the granny square, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through two loops) twice.
*yo, insert the hook into the next sc in the tree and the next dc in the granny square, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through two loops, repeat from * to next ch 2 space.
(yo, insert the hook into the next sc in the tree and the next ch 2 space of the granny square, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through two loops) twice.
ch 2, dc 2 into the next ch 2 space, continue the round with dc into each dc, and (dc, ch 2, dc 2) in each ch 2 space. dc in each st to first ch 2, sl st into 2nd ch.
Round 5: repeat round 3. Cut off white yarn and weave in the loose ends.
Round 6: With the red yarn make a standing dc (or ch 2), *dc into each st to next ch 2 space, (dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) into ch 2 space, repeat from * three more times, dc in each st to first standing dc (or ch 2), sl st into dc (or 2nd ch of first ch 2). Cut off red yarn and weave in the loose end.
Round 7: With the green yarn make a standing sc (or ch 1), *sc into each st to next ch 2 space, (sc 2, ch 2, sc 2) into ch 2 space, repeat from * three more times, sc into each st to first sc (or ch 1), sl st into standing sc(or ch 1) of the beginning of the round. Cut off the yarn and weave in the loose end.
Finishing the square:
String the star shaped bead into the loose end of the yarn on the tip of the tree. sew the tree on the square as shown in photo. Weave in loose end.
