Discover 7 simple everyday tips & tricks for daily housekeeping routine.
Sticker stains
If your children have gone sticker happy and plastered them all over their bedrooms door don’t panic. Use a tiny amount of nail polish remover and gently rub over the mark.
Sticky scissors
Use a cotton wool pad and nail varnish remover to clean sticky Sellotape glue off scissors.
Toaster crumbs
Get tricky-to-reach crumbs and burnt bits out of your toaster by unplugging it and sweeping with a pastry brush. This will help your toaster last longer, as well as making crumbs less likely to catch and burn.
Toothbrushes
Don’t throw away your old toothbrush – it can be a really useful tool. Give it a rinse in boiling water to get rid of any germs, then use it to get into nooks and crannies that your vacuum cleaner can’t reach. It’s especially handy in the bathroom, for cleaning hard-to-reach areas around the tap or drain.
Towels When washing towels, omit the fabric conditioner. Fabric conditioner can damage fibres and make them feel stiff.
TV remote controls
TV remotes are one of the germiest items in your home – they collect all types of bacteria on a daily basis. Try cleaning them with a small amount of hand sanitiser and a paper towel. For extra effectiveness, use a cotton bud to get those hard-to-reach areas between the buttons.
Smoothie maker/blender
After you have made your drink or blended your soup, act quickly to avoid stains. Add a squirt of washing-up liquid and a little warm water, then put the cup or bowl back onto the unit with the lid firmly on. Blitz, then just give it a quick rinse.
