Diamond Trellis Crochet Stitch Tutorial

Abbreviations:
- Ch(s): chain(s)
- St(s): stitch(es)
- Sc: single crochet
- Dc: double crochet
- FpTr: front post treble crochet
- FpTr2tog: front post treble crochet 2 together
Special Stitch:
Front Post Treble Crochet 2 Together (fptr2tog): *yo twice, insert hook around stitch indicated, pull up loop. [Yo pull through 2] twice. Repeat from * 1 more time. Yo pull through all loops on hook.
Notes:
- Ch 1 and 2 do not count as stitch
- Leave stitch behind each Fptr and fptr2tog unworked.
- All post stitches are worked 2 rows below
- Starting in row 5 all front post stitches are worked around post stitches from previous rows. This creates a diamond pattern that lies on top of the background.
- Odd rows = front side
Instructions:
Ch any multiple 4
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in same st as ch 2 and each st across. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1, FpTr around 3rd sc from row 1. *Sc 3. Fptr2tog starting in same sc as previous post stitch, skip 3 sts from row 1 and place the 2nd half of the fptrtog in the 4th st. Repeat from * across until 5 sts remain. Sc in next 3. Fptr around same sc as previous post st. Sc in last. Turn.
Row 4: ch 2, dc in same st as ch 2 and each st across. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1 and next 2 sts. *Fptr2tog starting in previous post st 2 rows below and ending in next post st 2 rows below. Sc in next 3. Repeat from * across. Turn.
Row 6: as row 4
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1, fptr around next post st 2 rows below, sc 3, *fptr2tog starting in previous post st 2 rows below and ending in next post st 2 rows below, sc in next 3. Repeat from * across until 2 sts remain. Fptr around previous post st 2 rows below. Sc in last. Turn.
Repeat rows 4-7 until project is desired size.
