1. Color code or pick a theme for your gifts!
When you have to store for a lot of people and different family members, it can get quite difficult to keep track of which gifts go where. Choose a theme or color to wrap all the gifts for each group of people. For example, this year I am wrapping all the gifts for my friends in shades of red, for my dad's family in shades of green, for my fiancé's family in snowman paper, etc.
2. If you want to save money, purchase all or some of your gift wrap at the Dollar Store.
I buy tissue, gift bags, tags and toppers at the dollar store. Why would I pay $5 (or more) for a gift bag when I can pay $1, no one notices anyway! Personally, I do not like the wrapping paper because I think it's too thin and tears easily, but you might find that the wrapping paper works well for you.
3. This tip does not apply to this year, but if you want to save the most money on wrapping paper, buy ALWAYS after Christmas.
I often get up to 70% off my wrapping paper after Christmas and stock up for next year! You can get really high quality wrapping material for little money here. I try to wait a while after Christmas because the deals are better then, but you risk not having as much selection.
4. Pinch the edges of the entire wrapped box together.
I found that this little trick makes the gifts look brilliant every time. Just pinch the edges of your entire gift and repeat the process a few times to make the edges look spotless. This works well for items that are gift boxed or have a hard edge (like books), but not for stuffed animals or blankets.
5. Make your own gift bags out of wrapping paper.
Great for odd shaped gifts that do not fit in gift bags!
6. Paint your ribbon and bows on your wrapping paper.
This is something for you who struggle with getting the perfect bow. You can just paint the perfect bow on your box! I love the simplicity of this method, do not you?
7. Repurpose containers to package cookies or other small items.
These Pringle tins have been festively repurposed and are perfect for gifting cookies!
8. Decorate plain boxes with washi tape.
This is one of my favorite ways to embellish plain boxes. This works especially well for gifts that are going to be sent in the mail, since you do not have to worry about the bows getting flattened.
