Crochet Tutorial: Knot Stitch

Most crochet stitches are known by only one name, but the knot stitch is an exception. Whatever you call it, the knot stitch is a good choice for an open, stylish look. The stitch is worked using the basic skills of crochet, but with a new twist by pulling up the loops in an exaggerated fashion. In the past, this stitch was often used as a general stitch for crochet shawls, but in modern crochet patterns, this stitch is often combined with tighter stitches to create an interesting effect in a variety of projects. It can also be used as a second layer on a firmer crochet base to create a lace-like stitch over a traditional stitch fiber.

Techniques used in this pattern (British term / American term):

Chain Stitch – ch

Slip stitch - slt

Treble / double crochet – tr/dc Stitch – st

I love these patterns. I have learned so much just by following them and making so many different designs. Thank you for that.
