Lace Squares Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial

Size
The patterns are written for a 15cm by 15cm / 6” by 6” square.
Abbreviations
st = stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
yo = yarn over
dc2tog = double crochet 2 stitches together
skip = miss
Stitch Multiple
The pattern needs a multiple of 8 + 7 number of stitches; your starting chain will be a multiple of 8 + 10 for an extra turning chain.
Special Stitches
Square cluster: the cluster is worked in mini rows back and forth
Ch 2, then sc in the indicated st, turn
Ch 2, dc in the sc below, dc 2 in the next 2 chains, turn
Ch 2, dc 3, turn
The Actual Crochet Lace Stitch Pattern
With your 5 mm / US H-8 hook ch 26,
Row 1: Work a square cluster in 8th ch from the hook* (counting the starting ch 2 of the cluster), skip 3, [(dc, ch 3, dc), skip 3, work a square cluster in the next st, skip 3] twice, tr in last st, turn.
* Refer to the cluster instructions in the special stitches section. The cluster starts with a ch 2. After adding those 2 stitches, make a sc in the 8th chain from the hook (counting these 2 new chain stitches)
Row 2: Ch 6, [(dc, ch 3, dc) in top of square cluster of the row below*, work a square cluster in the ch-3 space] twice, (dc, ch 3, dc) in top of the last square cluster from the row below, tr in 3rd ch below.
* Work in the 2nd ch from the turning chain of the last row of the cluster
Row 3: Ch 6*, [work a square cluster in the ch-3 space, (dc, ch 3, dc) in top of square cluster from the row below] twice, work a square cluster in the ch-3 space, ch 2, tr in base of the 3rd dc of the cluster.
* does not include the starting ch 2 of the square cluster that follows
Repeat Row 2 and 3.
Repeat Row 2.
Last Row: Ch 6, tr in ch-3 space below, ch 3, [sc in top of square cluster below, ch 3, tr in ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, tr in 3rd ch below.
