Front Post Double Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial
Front Post Double Crochet Stitches are double crochet stitches that are worked around the post of the stitch instead of into the top of the stitch.
In most patterns they are abbreviated as FPdc or FPDC or fpdc. This intermediate crochet technique creates a textured stitch that stands out among the others in your crochet projects.
I have often used front post double crochet stitches in waffle blankets and washcloths.

Materials:
- #4 medium worsted weight yarn
- 5mm US size H/8 hook
Abbreviations:
- yo – yarn over

Instructions:
1. First yarn over, as you would for a regular double crochet stitch.
2. Insert your hook in between the posts of the stitch you are on and the stitch you will work your FPDC stitch into.
3. Yarn over and pull the yarn behind and around the post and up. You will have 3 loops on your hook.
4. Now you will complete a regular double crochet stitch. Yarn over and pull through two of the loops on your hook. You will be left with 2 loops on your hook.
5. Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.
