8 Beyond Easy Living Room Cleaning Hacks

I think we can all agree that the living room is one of the most used rooms in our home. It's the place where the family watches movies together, gets together, and also serves as a welcoming space for incoming guests. So it's only logical that we put effort and time into keeping it clean and tidy, right? That's why I have compiled a list of simple cleaning tips and hacks below that will help you get things done without feeling overwhelmed. They can be done in less time and with less effort. Try them out!

1. Polish your wooden furniture
If you have some wood furniture in your living room that is fading in color, try mixing 1/4 cup of olive oil with a few drops of apple cider vinegar and using that as a cleaning agent. This will pull the dirt out of the wood and give your furniture extra care.

2. Deodorize your carpet
Even if you wash your carpet regularly, it can easily take on a foul odor, especially if you have a pet. A quick and easy solution is to sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on your carpet, let it sit for an hour, and then vacuum. The baking soda will absorb the odors instead of just masking them.

3. Dust on your ceiling fan
If dust accumulates on the blades of your ceiling fan, simply turning it on can spread it throughout your home. Instead, slip a clean pillowcase over each blade and slide it off to collect the dust.

4. Clean your fabric sofa
Using the tip above, you can also easily clean and freshen up your couch by using some baking soda. Simply sprinkle the baking soda on your couch and let it sit for at least twenty minutes. Vacuum afterwards, and your couch will look like new.

5. Dust baseboards
Dust and dirt can accumulate on your baseboard, making your house look shabby and unloved. Simply add a cleaning solution and use the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner to remove dirt and dust from the surface of your baseboards.

6. DIY Blind Cleaner
With a pair of pliers, some microfiber cloths, and rubber bands, you can easily make a blinds cleaner to make your cleaning job easier. Simply wrap your dusters around each side of the tongs and secure them with two rubber bands each. Make sure the smooth side of the duster is facing inward and the seam is on the side or back so you can dust most effectively.

7. Clean high and hard to reach places
To quickly clean and dust ceiling moldings, place a microfiber cloth over the bristles of the broom and secure it with a rubber band. Then use the long handle to dust areas you can not reach with your arms. Impressive, right?

8. Dust your appliances with dryer sheets
Dusting your devices not only keeps them clean, but it can also extend their lifespan, as dust can easily remove particles from your electronic devices. And what better way than to simply clean them with dryer sheets. You will save so much time and effort if you follow this tip.

When people enter your home, your living room is the first place they see. And even though decorations can make your home stunning, keeping it clean and tidy makes a big difference. So try applying these tips and tricks to your next cleaning session and let me know what you think!
