Crochet: Double Picot Stitch
A double picot stitch is combination of chains and either slip stitches or single crochet stitches, crocheted together in a unique way to form a point in your work. Double picots are commonly used to make a pretty finished edging on a project. They are a great way to spice up a simple edge because of their unique, pointed look!
And while it’s a popular edging for doilies, blankets and garments, this stitch is much more versatile than simple borders. Plus, the double picot can also be called to the middle of patterns, often to fill spaces with interesting texture.
Here, you’ll learn the step-by-step for crocheting the picot stitch. Picots will also be used anytime a project has need for some kind of point. For example, crocheted snowflakes use picots quite often!
