How to Crochet the Tunisian Yarn Over Lace Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Tunisian Crochet Yarn Over Lace stitch is such a gorgeous stitch. It creates a great fabric for all kinds of things, including blankets to wearables! Learn how to crochet the yarn over lace stitch with me today.
Tunisian Foundation Row:
Crochet the Tunisian foundation row by chaining the desired number of stitches. I am making 20. Pull up a loop in the second chain from the hook and in each chain to the end.
Now that all of the loops are on your hook (there should be 20 – one for each chain made) it is time to knock them back off in the Backward or Return Pass.
Backward Pass (for this row and all remaining rows):
Chain one to make the side of the row.
Yarn over (YO), pull through two loops. Repeat this step to the end of the row, until only one loop remains.
Foundation Row made!
To make each of the following Yarn Over Lace rows…
1. Tunisian Simple Stitch two together (TSS2tog) by inserting the hook under both of the next two vertical bars at once. Pull up one loop.
2. Yarn over, TSS2tog using next two vertical bars.
Repeat step 2 to the end of the row.
3. When you get to the end, yarn over and pull up a loop in the outside stitch.
Complete the Backward Pass as in the first row.
Continue adding rows by repeating steps 1, 2, and 3.
Remember that the beginning of each row starts with a TSS2tog with NO yarn over, and the final/outside stitch of each row ALWAYS has a yarn over. Every single time.
When you’re ready to finish off… you’ll slip stitch in the TSS2tog, then sl st in the top bar of the next stitch. Alternate these two slip stitches to the end of the row.
Slip stitch to the outside stitch, and fasten off and weave in ends. Isn’t this gorgeous?!
