Abbreviations:

  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • sk = skip
  • esc puff = extended sc puff st
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • yo = yarn over

Special Stitches:

esc puff: insert hook into st indicated, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 1 loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook into same st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 1 loop (3 loops on hook), *yo, insert hook into same st, yo, pull up a loop to height of stitch (5 loops on hook),* repeat from * to * 1 time (7 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1 to close stitch.

Notes:

Multiples of 2 for foundation chain.

Instructions:

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and in each ch to end. Turn.

Row 2: ch 1, esc puff in same st, *sk next st, esc puff in next st,* repeat from * to * to end. Turn.

Row 3: ch 1, work esc puff in next ch-1 sp and in each ch-1 sp to end. Note: last esc puff will be worked in the ch-1 turning st after the last puff stitch from the previous row. Turn.

Continue repeating row 3 to desired size.
