Crochet Basics: Stripe Stitch
Learning new crochet stitch is like a turning new page of the book of your crochet life. I’m bringing you all another stitch tutorial this week – beautiful Stripe Stitch.
It’s a really easy stitch to learn. Very beginner friendly. It makes for a light and breezy stitch. The stripe stitch is perfect for a light blanket, summer tops or fall scarves etc. It’s pretty versatile for whenever you want something a little breathable. It’s also one of those crochet stitches that look good from both sides, so it opens up a lot of design options.
Techniques used in this stitch (British term / American term):
Chain stitch – ch
Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc
2 tr/dc decrease – 2dec
1tr/dc decrease – 1dec
Font Post dc/sc – FPdc/sc

Instructions
Foundation Chain: Multiples of 10 + 5
Row 1: Skip 3ch, 1dec over next 2ch, * 1tr/dc in each of next 4ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in same ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 3ch, 2dec over next 3ch; rep from*, 1tr/dc in each of next 4ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in same ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 3ch, 1dec over next 2ch, 1tr/dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Make 3ch, skip 2sts below, * 1PFdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc, 6dc/sc in space of 2ch, 1PFdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc, 2ch, skip dec st below; rep from*, 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.
Row 3: Make 3ch, 5tr/dc in space of 2ch, * 2ch, 9tr/dc in next space of 2ch; rep from *, 2ch, 5tr/dc in space of 3ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.
Row 4: Make 2ch, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 5tr/dc below, * 1ch, work 1dc/sc in middle of bobble:
insert hook through back side of third and fourth dc/sc of Row 2 (see picture) and work 1dc/sc.
Make 1ch, 1PFdc/sc over each of next 9tr/dc; rep from *, 1ch, work 1dc/sc in middle of bobble, 1ch, 1PFdc/sc over each of next 5tr/dc, 1dc/sc in third ch.
Row 5: Make 3ch, 1tr/dc in first pst, 1ch, 1tr/dc in same pst, 1tr/dc in each of next 3 pst, * work 2dec over last pst, dc/sc (over bobble) and first pst of next shell; 1tr/dc in each of next 4 pst, 2ch, 1tr/dc in same st, 1tr/dc in each of next 3 st; rep from *, work 2dec, 1tr/dc in each of next 4 pst, 1ch, 1tr/dc in same st, 1tr/dc in second ch, turn.
Row 6: Make 2ch, 4dc/sc in space of 1ch, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc below, * 2ch, skip dec st, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc, 6dc/sc in space of 2ch, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc below; rep from * 2ch, skip dec st, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 4tr/dc, 4dc/sc in space of 1ch, 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.
Row 7: * Make 2ch, 9tr/dc in space of 2ch; rep from *, 1ch, 1dc/sc in second ch, turn.
Row 8: Make 2ch, 1dc/sc in back side of first and second dc/sc (bobble) of Row 6, 1ch, * 1FPdc/sc over each of next 9tr/dc below, 1ch, work 1dc/sc in middle of bobble, 1ch; rep from *, 1FPdc/sc over each of next 9tr/dc, 1ch, 1dc/sc in back side of third and fourth dc/sc (bobble) of Row 6, 1dc/sc in first ch, turn.
Row 9: Make 3ch, work 1dec over dc/sc and first pst of shell, * 1tr/dc in each of next 4 pst, 2ch, 1tr/dc in same st, 1tr/dc in each of next 3 st, work 2dec over last pst, dc/sc (over bobble) and first pst of next shell; rep from *, 1tr/dc in each of next 4 pst, 2ch, 1tr/dc in same st, 1tr/dc in each of next 3 st, work 1dec over last pst and dc/sc, 1tr/dc in second ch, turn.
Repeat rows 2 – 9 until you have reached your desired length.
love this pattern I'm going to try and make it but don't understand how many stiches to chain.
Does it mean to make 10 stiches in each set of Tdc but I don't understand the plus 5
