Offset Cobble Crochet Stitch Tutorial

The Offset Cobble Crochet Stitch is a captivating and textured pattern that adds depth and dimension to your crochet projects. This stitch creates a unique textured fabric that resembles a field of offset, raised "cobbles" or bobbles, giving your work a three-dimensional quality.

To crochet the Offset Cobble Stitch, you'll need to be familiar with basic crochet stitches, such as single crochet and double crochet, as well as the technique for creating bobble stitches. The offset nature of this stitch is achieved by strategically placing these bobbles in different rows, creating a visually striking pattern.

This stitch is versatile and can be used in various projects, including blankets, scarves, and textured garments. The raised bobbles not only enhance the visual appeal but also provide extra warmth and coziness to your crochet creations.

In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of crocheting the Offset Cobble Stitch, step by step. Whether you're an experienced crocheter looking for a new challenge or a beginner eager to learn, this stitch offers a creative and satisfying crochet experience. So, grab your crochet hook and yarn, and let's explore the world of the Offset Cobble Crochet Stitch to add depth and character to your projects!

Pattern Instructions

The Offset Cobble Stitch is worked on the wrong side which means that the textured bobbles you create will be on the side which is away from you. To show you what each row looks like, I have put pictures of both the front and back of the rows so you know what the pattern should look like.

Starting Chain:

This pattern requires you to chain multiples of 2ch. My starting chain is 22ch.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch1, turn.

Row 2: *sc, tr*, repeat from * until you have 1st left, sc, ch1, turn (picture shows back & front of row 2).

Row 3: sc in each stitch across, ch1, turn.

Row 4: sc, *sc, tr*, repeat from * until you have 2sts left, sc in last 2sts, ch1, turn (picture shows back & front of row 4).

Row 5: sc in each stitch across, ch1, turn.

Repeat rows 2 – 5 until you have the desired length.

This is perfect if you want the bobble texture but you don’t want to spend a lot of time making it or use a lot of yarn. Because it has a flat back, it works great for clothes, accessories and, of course, blankets and afghans.
