Offset Hearts Crochet Pattern Photo Tutorial
The Offset Hearts Pattern is a two-row repeat decorative pattern that uses simple and cluster V stitches in two colors or more to create the puff hearts across the fabric. It works great for baby blankets, modern afghans, sweaters, beanies, and more.

Materials:
- Marriner Yarns Aran in brown and pink
- 5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations:
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- ch(s) – chain(s)
- sk – skip
- yo- yarn over
- dc – double crochet
- dc2tog – double crochet 2 together
Notes:
- ch3 at the beginning of rows count as a double crochet
- stitches contained within ** are the repeat section for that row
- stitches contained within ( ) are made into the same ch-space or stitch (as directed)
- the color changes are made after the row has been started to create a border around the hearts
- after every color change, cut the previous yarn and leave a long enough tail that can be weaved in
Instructions:
Starting Chain: Start with brown. This pattern requires you to chain multiples of 6chs + 2chs. My starting chain is 32ch.
Row 1: Continue with brown, (dc, ch1, dc) in the 6th ch from hook, *sk2, (dc, ch1, dc) in next ch*, repeat from * until you have 2chs left, sk1, dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: ch3, change colors to pink, (dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog) in the ch1 space between the dc stitches below, *ch1, sk the next ch1 space between the dc stitches below, (dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog) in the next ch1 space between the dc stitches below *, repeat from * until you have crocheted in the last ch1 space, change colors to brown, dc in the last dc stitch below.
Row 3: Continue with brown, ch3, (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch3 space between the dc2tog below, * (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch1 space, (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch2 space between the dc2tog below*, repeat from * until you have crocheted in every ch1 and ch3 spaces below, dc in the top chain of ch3 below, turn.
Row 4: ch3, change colors to pink, dc2tog in the very first st, ch1, sk the first ch1 between the dc stitches below, *(dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog) in the next ch1 space between the dc stitches below, sk the next ch1 space between the dc stitches below*, repeat from * until the last ch1 space, dc2tog in the top ch of ch3 at the end, change colors to brown, dc in the same ch, turn
Row 5: Continue with brown, ch3, (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch3 space between the dc2tog below, * (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch1 space, (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch2 space between the dc2tog below*, repeat from * until you have crocheted in every ch1 and ch3 spaces below, dc in the top chain of ch3 below, turn.
Repeat rows 2 – 5 until you have the required length for your project. Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
