Open Mesh Stitch Crochet Pattern

Size
The pattern is written for a 15cm by 15cm / 6” by 6” square. You can easily adapt the size to your desired project size with the stitch multiple info below.
Stitch Multiple
The pattern needs a multiple of 5 + 3 number of stitches; your starting chain will be a multiple of 5 + 5 for an extra turning chain.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern is 12 st by 8.5 rows in stitch pattern for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).

The Open Mesh Crochet Stitch Tutorial
With your 5.5mm / US I- 9 hook ch 20.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from the hook, dc across, turn. <18 st>
Row 2: Ch 7, skip 2, sc, [ch 9, skip 4, sc] repeat until end of row, turn.
Row 3: Ch 5, [sc in 5th chain below, ch 4] repeat until last ch, sc in 5th ch below, turn.
Note: make sure you sc in the chain and not over the chain to fix the stitch on the chain.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc, [4 dc in ch-4 space, dc] across, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 to 4 until you reach 15 cm / 6”.
