How to Make the Triple Treble Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Triple Treble Crochet stitch is one of the tallest crochet stitches there is. While there is an art to crocheting it, and mastering this tall crochet stitch is a learning curve, once you get that down you’ll be a Triple Treble crocheting fool! Let’s learn how with this tutorial.
These taller crochet stitches really take a minute to get used to. Either you love them… or you don’t, but this tutorial should make the process more fun. Or at least more interesting!
What I love about the Triple Treble crochet stitch is how quickly you can work up one row. Since the height of one Triple Treble is the height of FIVE single crochet rows, that sure does mean fewer rows – even if they do take a bit longer to make per row.
About the Triple Treble crochet stitch:
- Triple Treble is abbreviated as Trtr when reading crochet patterns.
- Basically, you’ll yarn over FOUR times, insert the hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop. Then yarn over, pull through two loops FIVE times. (Explained in detail below)
How to Triple Treble:
1. Start with any number of chains. Let’s say 14 chains for this example.
2. First we need to wrap our yarn around the hook FOUR times.
3. Insert hook into the 7th chain from the hook and pull up a loop. (6 loops on hook)
4. Yarn over and pull through two loops, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over pull through two loops… a total of FIVE times. (until there is only one loop remaining)
5. To make each subsequent Triple Treble, yarn over FOUR times, pull up a loop in the next stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops a total of FIVE times.
That’s it!
To start a new row, chain 6 and turn. Then repeat step 5 to the end of the row.
