How To Crochet The Crossed Treble X Stitch Photo Tutorial
Learn how to crochet the beautiful the treble cross stitch. This tall stitch is great for cable stitches, texture or an open crochet design.
This lovely stitch pattern looks great between rows of single crochet. For a more solid fabric you can add stitches in between sets of x stitches.

Materials
- Any weight yarn, I'm using a #4 medium worsted weight yarn.
Tools
- A crochet hook size to match your yarn weight. I'm using a 5 mm hook (US Size H-8)
Stitches / Crochet Abbreviations
- ch(s) – chain(s)
- rep – repeat
- sc – single crochet
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- tr – treble stitch
Instructions
1. You'll need a row of stitches. Start with a slip knot on your hook and chain 30 for the foundation chain. You can adjust the number of chains, note here that I skip the first 3.
2. Tr in the 4th ch from your hook, and in each ch to the end of the row. (27 sts)
3. To start a new row ch 4, or use an alternative. This counts as the first treble crochet of the row.
4. Skip the next st.
5. Yarn over 2x for a treble.
6. Work a treble crochet in the next stitch.
7. Treble crochet in the skipped stitch by going behind the stitch you just made to work a normal treble in the stitch you skipped.
8. It helps to fold over the stitch you just made to see where your hook is. Insert hook from front to back like usual in the stitch.
9. One crossed x treble crochet stitch complete.
10. Now you can repeat as you like. Here I place a few stitches in between.
11. I recommend placing a treble as the first and last stitch, or one of the basic crochet stitches.
12. In some of the crochet patterns there is another crossed treble stitch next. It's repeated across the row. Then the next row is sc. You make a few rows then a repeat row of x trebles.
