Modern Granny Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial

Materials
- Double Knit yarn in yellow and black
- 4mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
- sk – skip
- ch – chain
- yo- yarn over
- dc – double crochet
- sc – single crochet
- dc3tog – double crochet 3 together
- dc3cl – 3 double crochet cluster
Special Stitches
Double Crochet 3 Together (dc3tog) – Yo, insert hook in the next stitch, yo and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo and pull through the first two loops on hook (2 loops left on hook).
Repeat two more times, once in each of the next 2 stitches (you will have 4 loops on hook), yo, and pull through all loops on hook.
Instructions
To begin, chain 19 or any multiples of 3+1 chains.
Row 1: dc in 4th stitch from hook, sk2, *(3dc) in next st, sk2*, repeat from * until the last ch, (2dc) in last ch, turn
Row 2: ch3, dc in next, ch1, *dc3tog, ch2*, repeat from * until you have 5 stitches left, dc3tog, ch1, (2dc) in next, turn
Row 3: ch3, dc in the very first stitch, sk the fist ch1 space below, (3dc) in each ch2 space below, sk the last ch1 space, (2dc) in the last space, turn
Row 4: ch4, *dc3tog, ch2*, repeat until you have 4 stitches left, dc3tog, ch1, dc in the last stitch, turn
Row 5: ch3, dc in the very first stitch, sk the first ch1 space below, (3dc) in each ch2 space below, sk the last ch1 space, (2dc) in the last space, turn
Row 6: ch3, dc in next, ch1, *dc3tog, ch2*, repeat until the last 5 stitches, dc3tog, ch1, 2dc, turn
Row 7: ch3, (3dc) in each chain space, dc in last stitch, turn
Row 8: ch4, *dc3tog, ch2*, repeat until you have 4 stitches left, dc3tog, ch1, dc in last stitch, turn
Repeat rows 5 – 8 until you have the required length.
