Crochet Textured Wave Stitch
This crochet textured wave stitch is easy to make and works up fast for a blanket or scarf. Front post stitches create the unique look!
I’m pretty sure everyone loves classic ripple stitches and wave stitches. Traditionally, stitch patterns like this require counting and skipping and getting the peaks and valleys to work out just right. One wrong move and everything gets off – especially the ends and sides!
This wave stitch ripple pattern is very simple to make. You can make this stitch pattern with any size yarn and its' corresponding or suggested crochet hook. Enjoy!
Instructions:
Techniques used in this pattern (British term / American term):
Chain stitch – ch
Double crochet / Single crochet – dc / sc
Font Post dc / sc – FPdc / sc
Treble / Double crochet – tr/dc
4 tr/dc decrease – 4tr/dc dec.: work 1 incomplete tr/dc in each of next 5 st, then draw up yarn through all loops on hook.
2 tr/dc decrease – 2tr/dc dec.: work 1 incomplete tr/dc in each of next 3 st, then draw up yarn through all loops on hook.
Foundation Chain: Multiples of 16 + 5
Row 1: skip 3 ch, 2tr/dc dec. , * 1tr/dc in each of next 5ch, 2tr/dc + 2ch + 2tr/dc in next ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 5ch, 4tr/dc dec.; rep from*, 1tr/dc in each of next 5ch, 2tr/dc + 2ch + 2tr/dc in next ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 5ch, 2tr/dc dec., 1tr/dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: 2ch, 1 FPdc / sc over decrease st, *1 FPdc / sc over each of next 7tr/dc below, 2ch, 1 FPdc / sc over each of next 7tr/dc, 1 FPdc / sc over decrease st; rep form*, 1dc/sc in 3rd ch, turn.
Row 3: 3ch, 2tr/dc dec. , * 1tr/dc in each of next 5FPdc/sc, 2tr/dc + 2ch + 2tr/dc in space of 2ch of Row 1, 1tr/dc in each of next 5FPdc/sc, 4tr/dc dec.; rep from*, 1tr/dc in each of next 5FPdc/sc, 2tr/dc + 2ch + 2tr/dc in space of 2ch of Row 1, 1tr/dc in each of next 5FPdc/sc, 2tr/dc dec., 1tr/dc in 2nd ch, turn.
Repeat rows 2 - 3 until you have reached your desired length.
