STITCHES USED IN SPIKED SEDGE STITCH

To make the spiked stitch you need:

Slip Knot

Use the crochet hook to draw the yarn through the loop and pull the loop until tight.

Chain (CH)

Wrap the yarn over the hook from back to front.

Pull the hook with the yarn, through the loop that is on your hook

Skip (SK)

Skip the next chain and put your hook into the following chain or stitch. This is indicated using, SK 1 CH

Single Crochet (SC)

Start with one loop on your hook

Slide the hook in the chain stitch. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull the yarn through the chain stitch.

You now have 2 loops on the hook. Wrap the yarn over the hook and draw it through both loops on the hook

Half Double Crochet (HDC)

Yarn over and put your hook into the next stitch

Yarn over and pull the yarn through

Then yarn over again and pull the yarn through all three loops on the hook

To begin a new row, chain two for a turning chain then turn your work. Continue with the half double crochet stitch in the next stitch and repeat as described

Double Crochet (DC)

Wrap the yarn over the hook and put your hook into the next stitch or the third chain from your hook when you start

Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch

Wrap the yarn over and pull the yarn through two of the three loops on the hook

Yarn over once more and pull the yarn through the remaining two loops on the hook
