How to Crochet the Boxed Puff Stitch Photo Tutorial

Materials:
- Marriner Yarns Aran
- 5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations:
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- ch – chain
- sk – skip
- yo- yarn over
- sl st – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- ps – puff stitch
Special Stitches:
Puff Stitch (ps) – *Yo, insert the hook under the dc post, yo, pull up a loop, yo and pull through the first 2 loops, leave the unfinished double crochet on your hook*, repeat 3 times for 3 incomplete double crochet on your hook, yo, pull through all 4 loops on the hook.
Notes:
- ch3 at the beginning of the row counts as a dc
- ch4 at the beginning of the row counts as a 1dc + 1ch
- stitches contained within ** are the repeat section for that row
Instructions:
Starting Chain: This pattern requires you to chain multiples of 4chs + 3chs. My starting chain is 27ch.
Row 1: dc in the 5th ch from the hook, ch1, ps around the previous dc post, *sk1, dc, sk1, dc, ch1, ps around the previous dc post*, repeat from * until you have 2chs left, sk1, dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: ch4, sk1, dc, *sk1, dc, sk1, ps around the previous dc post, sk1, dc*, repeat from * until you have 2sts left, ch1, sk1, dc in last st, turn.
Row 3: ch3, *sk1, dc, ch1, ps around the previous dc post, sk1, dc*, repeat from * until the end of the row, turn.
Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you have the desired length.
