Mountain Throw Colorful Blanket Crochet Pattern

Inspired by colorful mountain landscapes, The Mountain Throw brings gorgeous, woodsy warmth to any space. Using a repetitive stitch pattern, you’ll create a lovely light blanket perfect for everyday use. Watch the varied tweed colors emerge without ever having to make a color change thanks to the self striping yarn. This blanket is soft and not “holey”. Have fun customizing your colors for your space – there are so many beautiful options!

Materials:

  • 2 (3) Lion Brand Yarn Ferris Wheel in Summer Day
  • 1 (2) Lion Brand Yarn Ferris Wheel in Buttercup
  • 1 (2) Lion Brand Yarn Ferris Wheel in Imaginary Garden
  • 1 (2) Lion Brand Yarn Ferris Wheel in Pink Marmalade
  • US size H 5.0 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Size (approximate):

Follow directions throughout pattern for the size you are making. The smaller size is listed first, followed by the larger size.

S (L)

Lapghan: 50” X 28”

(Note this Lapghan size is relatively long and thin making for a great lap blanket or even a wrap on the shoulders. Start with a shorter starting chain if you’d like a more square version.)

Throw: 50” X 51”

Gauge:

  • Approximately 13 sts & 9 rows in 4” X 4” of pattern

Pattern Notes:

  • This throw is crocheted from the bottom up. There are no color changes as the yarn is self striping. Simply start a new skein with the indicated color when each skein has been used.
  • The blanket is made with the “Granny Spike Stitch”.
  • Size Adjustments: You may adjust the width by making a longer or shorter starting chain in a multiple of 4, then add 1 extra chain stitch at the end. Next, simply crochet following the pattern until your blanket is the desired length.

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • ch sp – chain space
  • ch-st – chain stitch
  • Dc spike – double crochet spike
  • yo – yarn over
  • st – stitch
  • sts – stitches * – repeat

Special Stitch:

Double Crochet Spike Stitch (Dc spike) : yo, insert hook in st 2 rows below, yo, finish double crochet as typical.

*Note the two size options have the same width, and therefore the same starting chain. The length is different.
