Crochet Basics: Larksfoot Stitch
Crochet is an art form, a passion, a therapy, whatever you want to call it, to me it is the most fun you can have with yarn. So, let’s continue to create yarn magic, one stitch at a time! Today’s stitch is the Larksfoot Crochet Stitch. This stitch is especially eye-catching when worked in contrasting colors – it really shows off that long double crochet that is dropped into the previous row. Gorgeous! Today I’m sharing with you a simple crochet tutorial, that will help you learn how to crochet the Larksfoot stitch. This stitch creates a delicate pattern with lots of texture. The Larksfoot stitch would be great for afghans, baby blankets, and scarves!
The crochet Larksfoot stitch is a great way to play with color within your project. It works perfectly to alternate colors every row but it looks great with wide stripes too. Pair the Larksfoot crochet stitch with your favorite yarn or a variety of different yarn types and textures from lightweight to super bulky and create an eye-catching project. Whether you use a smooth yarn or a slightly textured yarn, the pattern will be the focus of your project.
Note: Ch 3 at beginning of rows counts as a double crochet stitch. Ch 4 at beginning of rows counts as a double crochet and ch 1. To achieve the same color look, crochet rows 2 in one color before switching to the next.
