HOW TO CROCHET HALF DOUBLE CROCHET FOREST STITCH
Start your swatch or pattern with an even number of chains and a multitude of 4.
Foundation: Foundation crochet a chain that is a multiple of 4. I use 20 chains for this swatch
Row 1: Crochet HDC in the 3rd stitch from the hook, * SK2, HDC in the same chain, CH1, HDC in the same chain * repeat until all the way across the foundation chain. You end with HDC, CH1, HDC in the final chain. CH 2 and turn your work
Row 2: In the 2nd row, you are using the chains that you skipped in the foundation chain 2 rows below. HDC in 1st skipped chain, Ch1, HDC in 2nd skipped chain, * HDC in the next skipped chain, CH1, HDC in next skipped chain * all the way across. Make 1 HDC in the final chain space. CH 2 and turn your work
Row 3: You are going to insert your hook in the v-stitch (the hole between the two HDC that turned into a V-stitch) from the 1 st row. HDC in 1st V-stitch, Ch1, HDC in 1 st V-stitch, * HDC in next V-stitch from the row below, Ch1, HDC in next V-stitch in the row below * all the way across. Make 1 HDC in the final chain space. CH 2 and turn your work
Repeat for as many rows as you want.
