Leafhopper Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Leafhopper Stitch uses split front post cluster stitches on a background of double crochet to create a pretty textured fabric. This stitch would be perfect for hats, cozy blankets, and more.
Learn how to crochet Leafhopper Stitch with this photo tutorial.
This stitch features the Leafhopper Cluster. These are split clusters worked over 3 stitches. This means you’ll start in one stitch, skip a stitch in the middle and end in the next one. This is a similar technique to the mixed cluster stitch or the trinity stitch.
The textured triangle shapes made remind me of little wings.
Leafhopper Cluster Tutorial
Since this is a split cluster, we’ll be working this over 3 stitches. Working in the previous row, you’ll start around the post of the stitch directly under the stitch you just made, skip 1 and then finish around the post of the next stitch. Lets get started.
Step 1: [yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of st directly below dc just worked, yo, pull up loop] twice. Keep these loops loose and pull them up tall. (5 loops on hook)
Step 2: Yo, pull through 4 loops. (2 loops remain on hook)
Step 3: skip next st, [yo, insert hook from font to back to front around post of next stitch from previous row, yo pull up loop] twice. Keep these loops loose. (6 loops on hook)
Step 4: Yo, pull through 4 loops. (3 loops on hook)
Step 5: yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
