How to Crochet the Windows Border Tutorial
The Windows Border is an easy two round pattern that can work with just about any pattern, but it is particularly suited when you're bordering squares or blocks that have been joined by one of the "loopy" methods, where chain loops are made all the way around the square.
And I think it looks like little windows with pretty curtains - but the modern, graphic style will work with tons of patterns!

- US - J, 6.0 mm Furls Crochet hook
- Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn
Abbreviations
- dc - double crochet
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- blo - back loop only
- st - stitch
- fptr - front post treble crochet
- sp - space
- tr - treble
Instructions when working into ch loops, in the round:
Rnd 1: Work 2 dc into each ch loop; ch 1 and skip the sc sts; join and break yarn.
At the corners: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) in each corner ch loop.
Round 2: Work a blo sc in each dc st; fptr in each skipped st of Project Row (before Border Round 1), working in front of the ch-1 in Rnd 1; join and break yarn.
At the corners Option 1: work 3 sc in each corner ch sp.
At the corners Option 2: work 1 sc in corner ch sp, tr in ch sp or corner of row before Row 1, 1 sc in Row 1 corner ch sp
Instructions when working into stitches, in the round:
Rnd 1: *Dc in the next 2 sts, ch 1, skip the next st; rep across, join and break yarn.
At the corners: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) in each corner st or sp.
Round 2: Work a blo sc in each dc st; fptr in each skipped st of Project Row (before Border Round 1), working in front of the ch-1 in Rnd 1; join and break yarn.
Instructions when working a row (best worked over a mult of 3):
Row 1: Dc in the first st, ch 1, skip the next st, *dc in the next 2 sts, ch 1, skip the next st; rep from * across until 1 st rem, dc in the last st; break yarn, do not turn.
Row 2: Join with sc in first st, fptr in skipped st of Project Row (before Border Row 1), working in front of the ch-1 in Row 1, *blo sc in the next 2 sts, fptr in skipped st of Project Row (before Border Row 1); join and break yarn.
