Colosseum Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial

This is not an official crochet stitch but a stitch pattern or stitch combination that I created and named. I thought the gaps looked like the arches of the Roman Colosseum.

The Colosseum stitch uses the chain, single crochet, and double crochet to create a sturdy mesh stitch.

Learn how to crochet the Colosseum Stitch with this photo tutorial.

Materials

  • Bernat Softee Cotton (Light/ Size 3 Yarn)
  • Size H 5mm Crochet Hook

Abbreviations

  • CH – Chain
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • DC – Double Crochet
  • ST(s) – Stitch(es)

Notes

  • Turning chain is not counted as a stitch.

Instructions

Starting Chain: Work any even number of chains.

Row 1: SC in the second CH from the hook. SC in each CH across.

Row 2: CH2, turn, DC in first ST. *CH1, Skip a ST, DC in next ST* repeat from *to* until you reach the end of the row.

Row 3: CH1, turn. SC in each ST and CH1 space across.

Continue repeating rows 2 and 3 until your project is as big as you would like it to be.
