The right side of the clasp stitch has more texture while the wrong side shows gorgeous color changes (I love the little contrasting color dashes). This makes it a great stitch for projects you want to be pretty on both sides.

Size
The pattern is written for a 15cm by 15cm / 6” by 6” square. You can easily adapt the size to your desired project size with the stitch multiple info below.
Stitch Multiple
The pattern needs a multiple of 2 + 1 number of stitches; your starting chain will be a multiple of 2 + 3 for an extra turning chain.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern is 14 st by 13 rows in stitch pattern for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).

The Clasp Textured Stitch Pattern
With your 5.5mm / US I- 9 hook, ch 21 + 2 with color A,
Row 1 (color A): Dc in 3rd ch from the hook, dc across, turn. <21 st>
Row 2 (color B): Ch 1, [sc, bpdc] until last st, sc, turn.
Row 3 (color C): Ch 1, [hdc, sl st] until last st, hdc, turn.
Row 4 (color A): Ch 2, dc across, turn.
Row 5 (color B): Ch 1, [sc, fpdc] until last st, sc, turn
Row 6 (color C): Repeat Row 3
Row 7 (color A): Repeat Row 4
Repeat Rows 2 to 7 until you reach 15 cm / 6″ finishing on a Row 4 or 7.
