How to Crochet the Honeycomb Tile Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Honeycomb Tile Stitch crochet pattern is a beautiful cabling pattern that would look stunning in a crochet blanket or scarf!
I was absolutely mesmerized when I originally came across this stitch pattern. I couldn’t get over how attractive it was with its texture that reminded me of Moroccan tiles. It did seem like a more complicated stitch pattern, but once I really got into it is wasn’t at all. I know you’re going to love it as much as I do.

Materials:
- soft worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn
- 5 mm crochet hook
Stitches and Abbreviations:
- Bpdc – Back Post Double Crochet Stitch
- Ch – Chain Stitch
- Dc – Double Crochet Stitch
- Fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet Stitch
- Rpt – Repeat
- Sc – Single Crochet Stitch
- Sl St – Slip Stitch
- Yo – Yarn Over
Pattern Notes:
- This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
- To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch you will need a multiple of 6 stitches, plus 4 for your foundation chain. For example, ch 28.
Instructions:
Row One: Dc in the 4th ch from your hook, dc in each st across, ch 3 (counts as a dc), turn.
Row Two: Dc in each of the next 2 sts, *bpdc in each of the next 2 sts, dc in each of the next 4 sts; Rpt from * across ending with a dc in each of the final 3 sts (including the top of your turning ch). Ch 3, turn.
Row Three: Sk the next 2 sts, fpdc in the next st, *working behind the fpdc dc in each of the 2 skipped sts, sk the next fpdc st, dc in each of the next 2 sts, fpdc around the post of the previous skipped fpdc, sk the next 2 dc, fpdc in the next st; Rpt from * across ending with a dc in the top of the turning ch, ch 3, turn.
Row Four: Bpdc around the post of the next st, *dc in each of the next 4 sts, bpdc in each of the next 2 sts; Rpt from * across until 2 sts remain, bpdc in the next st, dc in the top of your turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Row Five: Sk the next st, dc in each of the next 2 sts, fpdc in the previous skipped st, *sk the next 2 sts, fpdc in the next st, working in behind of the fpdc just worked, dc in each of the 2 skipped stitches, sk the next st, dc in each of the next 2 sts, fpdc around the post of the previous skipped fpdc; Rpt from * across, dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows 2-5 for the pattern. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
