How to Crochet the Wave and Chevron Stitch Photo Tutorial

The Wave and Chevron Stitch is a really fun variation of a classic ripple or chevron stitch. Each repeat starts with a flat edge. This stitch would be perfect to use on a striped baby blanket.

There are many different ways to change up the stripes on this crochet stitch. It does need to be worked in at least 2 colors to get the full effect of the pattern. In the sample shown, I changed color every 2 rows.

Pattern Reading Tips

  • a number before a stitch (ex: 3 sc) means work that many stitches all in the same stitch
  • a number after a stitch (ex: sc 2) means work the specified stitch in the number of stitches listed
  • stitches in list form separated by commas (ex: sc, hdc, dc,) work across the row placing specified stitches in order listed. Using the example: start with a sc, hdc in next, dc in next.
