Regal Stitch Crochet Pattern Photo Tutorial

I have a wonderful, textured crochet stitch pattern for you today called the Regal Stitch.

This stitch pattern would make an excellent choice for your heavier weight projects. But I also wouldn’t hesitate to try it in a finer yarn if needed a little texture in a lighter weight project as well. All the texture in the Regal Stitch crochet pattern is to the front side.

Learn how to crochet the Regal Stitch with this photo tutorial.

Materials

  • worsted-weight yarn
  • 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook

Abbreviations

  • Blo – Back Loop Only
  • Ch – Chain Stitch
  • FpCL – Front Post Cluster Stitch ([yo, bring your hook in front of your work and insert around the post of the indicated st, yo and draw up a loop] twice, yo and draw through 4 loops on your hook, yo and draw through 2 loops on your hook. Front Post Cluster Stitch made.)
  • Fpsc – Front Post Single Crochet Stitch (Note: when working this stitch you will insert your hook under the top two loops of the previous stitch, around the post and out under the top two loops of the next stitch.)
  • Rpt – Repeat
  • Sc – Single Crochet Stitch
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Yo – Yarn Over

Notes

  • This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
  • To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an even number of stitches for your foundation chain. For example, ch 30.

Instructions

Row One: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), turn.

Row Two: Dc in the next st and in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Row Three: *FpCL in the next st, dc in the next st; Rpt from * across, dc in the top of the final st (turning ch). Ch 1, turn.

Row Four: Sc in the top of the 1st st, *fpsc (beginning in the same st as sc) in the next st and in each st across until 1 st remains, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.

Row Five: Sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern, simply repeat rows 2-5. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
