How to Crochet the Pique Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Pique Crochet stitch is a fun, quick, plush stitch. It is quick to work and easy to make. This is a great crochet stitch for baby blankets, socks, sweaters, or more! Let’s learn how to make this stitch with this written and photo tutorial.
If you are looking for a crochet stitch that works up quickly, this stitch is for you! It is as tall as a double crochet stitch but twice as wide. This means that the rows go by fast and you’ll have a finished project in no time. Great for last minute gifts, or quick washcloths!
To make the Pique Crochet Stitch:
1. Chain any number of chains. Note that the last two chains made will be the side of the first stitch of the first row.
2. Yarn over, insert hook in 3rd chain from the hook and pull up a loop. (3 loops on hook)
3. Yarn over and pull through two loops. (2 loops on hook)
4. Yarn over and pull up a loop in the same space. (4 loops on hook)
5. Yarn over and pull through all four loops. Stitch made!
To continue the Pique stitch you’ll start over with steps 2 through 5, going into the next chain until you get all the way to the end.
To start a new row…
1. Chain 2, turn.
2. Yarn over, insert hook into first stitch and pull up a loop. (3 loops on hook)
3. Yarn over and pull through two loops. (2 loops on hook)
4. Yarn over and pull up a loop in the same space. (4 loops on hook)
5. Yarn over and pull through all four loops.
Continue making Pique stitches until you get to the end of the row.
