How to Crochet the Flutter Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Flutter Stitch crochet pattern today is a simple, but beautiful crochet stitch that would work well with almost any project!
The Flutter Stitch Crochet Pattern features a beautiful solid texture that is created by a pattern of double crochet stitches and puff stitches. These stitches are worked on a diagonal which when worked in rows going back and forth creates an arrowhead look. I feel like the stitch reminds me of fluttering wings with its shape and easy rhythm.

Pattern Notes:
- This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
- To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch you will need a multiple of three chains, plus two (3+2) for your foundation chain.
Flutter Stitch Pattern:
To begin, you will work your foundation chain. For example, work 32 chains.
Row One: Sc in the 3rd ch from your hook, sc in each st across. Ch 2, turn.
Row Two: Sk the next 2 sts, *[2 dc, puff] in the next st, sk the next 2 sts; rpt from * across, sk the final 2 sts, ch 1, dc in the final ch-2 sp. Ch 2, turn.
Row Three: [2 dc, puff] in the ch-1 st, sk the next 2 sts, *[2 dc, puff] in the next st, sk the next 2 sts; rpt from * across, sk the final 3 sts, ch 1, dc in the final ch-2 sp. Ch 2, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat row 3 for as long as desired. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
