How to Crochet the Gravel Stitch Photo Tutorial

The Gravel Stitch features a raised texture that resembles little aligned blocks that would look wonderful in a blanket or cardigan.
Perhaps a wash cloth, or tea towel! There are so many uses for this crochet stitch pattern. I love the Gravel stitch as it is fairly thick with it’s raised stitches, but it is not dense and has beautiful drape.

- This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in one colour.
- To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch you will need a multiple of two chains (2) for your foundation chain. For example, ch 20.
Instructions
Row One: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Two: Sc in the 1st st, sc in the flo of each st across to the final st, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three: Sc in the 1st st, *Cl working in the flo of the next st 2 rows below, sc in the next st, rpt from * across, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Four: Sc in the 1st st, working in the flo of each st, sc in each st across to the final st, working under both lps, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern repeat rows three and four. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
