How to Crochet the Zipper Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Zipper Stitch Crochet pattern has colour, texture and an interesting pattern that is sure to catch anyone’s eye!
I love the look of this crochet stitch pattern. It has a complicated looking texture that is actually quite easy to work. The only stitches you will need to know to master this stitch are double crochet stitches, single crochet stitches and chain stitches.
It’s a wonderful stitch that could work in many different patterns including blankets and washcloths, sweaters and bags.

Materials:
- soft worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn
- 5mm crochet hook
Stitches and Abbreviations:
- Ch – Chain Stitch
- Dc – Double Crochet Stitch
- Rpt – Repeat
- Sc – Single Crochet Stitch
- Sl St – Slip Stitch
- Yo – Yarn Over
Pattern Notes:
- This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many.
- To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch you will need an even number of stitches for your foundation chain. For example, ch 24.
Instructions:
Row One: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across, ch 4, turn.
Row Two: Sk the next st, dc in the next st, *ch 1, sk the next st, dc in the next st; Rpt from * across. Switch to colour B in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three: Sc in the 1st st, *working in behind the previous row, dc in the next skipped stitch two rows below, sc in the next st; Rpt from * across. Ch 4, turn.
Row Four: Sk the next st, dc in the next st, *ch 1, sk the next st, dc in the next st; Rpt from * across, switch back to colour A in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows three and four for the pattern changing colours every two rows. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
